Working with Builder Funnel FAQs
Wondering what actually happens after you sign on, who you'll be working with, how pricing and payments break down, or what the first few months look like before deliverables start showing up? Start here. This section covers the full journey from your first conversation with us through onboarding and into your ongoing account team.
It happens in two stages. First, you go through our Ultimate Digital Marketing System (UDMS); a one-time foundational marketing infrastructure setup, where we audit your business, build your new website, and put together your marketing plan, social media plan, email plan, and an SEO/AIO plan.
Once that foundation is in place, you sign an implementation agreement and move into Delivery, where a dedicated account manager, strategist, and writer take over to execute your plan every month on a 12-month recurring contract.
UDMS is the build phase, think of it as designing the engine. Delivery is the ongoing phase, running that engine every month. Pricing and payment terms are laid out in your agreement before you sign anything, and your account manager walks you through exactly what's billed at each stage so there are no surprises between the audit, the build, and the recurring contract.
Yes, and that's by design. During UDMS, you're working with the specialists building each piece: web design, strategy, and SEO. Once you move into Delivery, you're handed off to a dedicated team of three: an account manager (your main point of contact), a strategist, and a writer. That handoff is intentional. You're moving from "getting built" to "getting run," and the people best suited for each job change accordingly.
This is usually where remodelers get nervous, because it's the quietest part of the process. Your website, plans, and optimization work happen during UDMS before your monthly deliverables start rolling out in Delivery. We'll tell you upfront what to expect at each touchpoint (audit, build, plan delivery, and kickoff into monthly execution) so "quiet" doesn't feel like "nothing's happening."
Speed to lead is part of what we build into your plan, not an afterthought. Your account manager will walk you through exactly how leads are captured, routed, and followed up on for your specific setup, because a fast website paired with a slow follow up process still loses the job.
Short version: less than people expect. You'll review and approve key milestones (design, plans, content direction) and your team checks in with you on a predictable cadence. The daily production work of writing, building, and optimizing is on us. We'll always tell you exactly what we need from you and by when.
Every plan is built around your business, your market, and your goals, that's the entire point of the UDMS audit. Nothing gets built off a template. Your strategist walks you through the plan before it goes live, and you can weigh in.
Reporting and results (R&R) are part of your recurring Delivery relationship, not a once a year event. Your account manager reviews performance with you on a regular cadence so you always know where your investment is landing.
Marketing Strategy FAQs
Wondering whether you actually need a full marketing strategy or just more ads, or trying to figure out whether AI search tools like ChatGPT even matter for a remodeling or custom home building business? This section is for you if you're comparing options (hiring internally, hiring a freelancer, or working with an agency) and want to understand how Builder Funnel's approach is actually built, not just what it's called.
It starts with a full audit of where your business stands today: your website, your existing marketing channels, and how you compare to competitors, plus how you show up across other listings and platforms. From there, we build a plan around your specific business and goals rather than dropping you into a template. That plan becomes the throughline that your website, ads, social media, and SEO/AIO work all point toward.
We look at your current channels and performance, compare you directly against your competitors, and check how your business is listed and represented everywhere else online, not just on your own site. That audit is what your strategy gets built on, so recommendations are based on your actual market position rather than guesswork.
Yes, and it's becoming one of the most common questions we get. People are increasingly asking AI tools for contractor and remodeler recommendations the same way they used to search Google. If your business isn't structured to show up there, you're invisible to a growing share of your prospects before they ever reach a search engine.
This isn't a separate add on service, it's built into how we work. The same strategy work that improves your SEO, like your project spotlights, how your site content is structured, and how your business is represented across the web, is also what makes you more likely to be surfaced and recommended by AI tools. SEO and AI visibility are pulling from the same foundation, so strengthening one strengthens the other.
Partners. You're assigned a dedicated account manager, strategist, and writer, not rotated between whoever's available. We've been building marketing strategies specifically for remodelers and custom home builders for over 16 years, and that experience shapes every recommendation we make, not just the tactics we execute.
An internal hire gives you one person covering strategy, execution, and reporting, which is a lot to ask of any single role. A freelancer typically covers one skill well, like ads or content, but won't own your overall strategy. An agency built specifically for this industry gives you a full team (strategist, writer, account manager, and channel specialists) working from one plan, so your website, ads, social, and SEO are moving in the same direction instead of being stitched together one vendor at a time.
Dedicated. Once your strategy is built, the same account manager, strategist, and writer stay with you for the life of your contract. You're not explaining your business all over again to a new person every quarter.
Reporting is part of the ongoing relationship, not a single deliverable you get once and never see again.
We start by tracking leading indicators for growth like website traffic, ranking keywords, and leads. As the results compound, we're able to track your full pipeline including ROI on your marketing investment and ROAS for your paid campaigns. Once the full system kicks in, we're even able to help with projections so you can plan ahead.
This kind of partnership requires your participation in tracking SQLs, appointments, and deals, and at the end of the day that's the best way we've seen to help us make recommendations of where to improve and where to invest more.
Web Design/Foundation FAQs
Curious what's actually included in a new website build, how long it takes, what you're expected to do versus what our team handles, or what happens once you approve the design? This section is for you if a new site is part of your project and you want to know exactly what to expect from kickoff to launch.
Foundation is a full website build on a tried-and-true structure designed around your brand. New design, new strategy, optimized content, built from the ground up around a conversion-focused framework proven to convert.
A Migration moves your existing site to a new platform without rebuilding the strategy behind it.
Your account manager can confirm which one applies to your project and exactly what's included, but the short version is: Foundation builds the engine, and Migration moves the car.
Your involvement is lighter than most owners expect:
-
Review and approve the homepage mock up
-
Respond to your Account Manager's weekly check ins
-
Review and approve final images before they go live
-
Submit any edit requests within one week of your website presentation (typically turned around in 3 to 4 days)
Everything else, including build, QA, copywriting, and redirects, is handled by our team.
This is where your Foundation build officially starts. We map out every remaining meeting on your calendar during that call, so you know exactly what's coming and when. There's no separate scheduling step later and no guessing what's next.
After your Kick Off Call, our team builds a custom homepage mock up for your review. Once you approve it (with or without edits), your build date is locked in.
Once your build date hits, your project gets a full week of dedicated focus. Our team installs your approved design and branding, writes custom content for every page based on real keyword research, builds internal linking between pages to move visitors toward conversion, hand selects images for your approval, and runs the site through design QA, content and function QA, and a full final QA pass before you ever see it.
Once your site passes full QA, you get a live walkthrough with your web designer covering your strategy, how the site's modules work together, the conversion funnels built into your pages, and a chance to ask questions and request changes in real time.
You get one week to review the finished site and submit edit requests through a tracking document built specifically for organizing updates. Typical turnaround on edits is 3 to 4 days depending on scope.
Once your edits are confirmed complete, we ask for your final approval and your DNS records. Once we have both, your site typically launches within one to two business days, including redirects from your old domain and a final round of QA.
-
DNS records: the settings that point your domain name to your new website. We'll tell you exactly what to request from your current host and when.
-
Image optimization: compressing and formatting images so your site loads fast without losing visual quality.
-
Alt text: short descriptions attached to images so search engines (and screen readers) understand what's on your page. It also helps your site get found and show up correctly in AI search results.
No. Every element is crafted to fit your brand, from your colors and content down to your imagery. What's consistent isn't the design, it's the order we guide visitors through your site in.
Foundation sites are built around a tested path: Attract (a visitor learns about you and sees real project photos), Convert (a Cost Guide and Contact form capture the lead), Nurture (leads flow into your CRM for follow up), Measure (we track what's working and keep improving it), and Close (you have full visibility from lead to closed deal).
That flow is proven across dozens of sites; the business in front of it is entirely yours.
Advertising (PPC/Paid) FAQs
Trying to figure out whether paid ads even make sense for your business, how they fit alongside everything else you're doing (or not doing) for marketing, or whether they still matter with AI search changing how people find contractors? This section is for you if you're weighing paid advertising as part of a bigger marketing decision, not just comparing Google versus Meta.
Not on its own. Ads are excellent at getting the right homeowners to click, but if the site they land on doesn't clearly show your work, your pricing approach, and an easy way to reach you, that click never turns into a lead. We look at your website as part of any ad strategy, because sending paid traffic to a page that isn't ready to convert it is the fastest way to waste a budget.
It depends on where your buyers are in their decision. Google captures homeowners who are already searching for a remodeler or builder, while Meta reaches people before they start searching, building awareness so you're the first call once a project becomes real. Many of our clients run both because they cover different stages of the same buyer's journey, but we'll recommend a starting point based on your market and budget rather than assuming you need everything at once.
Not directly. Paid ads and AI search visibility are two different systems, one is bought placement, the other is earned through your website content, structure, and reputation. That said, the two support each other well: ads generate immediate leads while your organic and AI visibility build in the background, so you're not solely dependent on ad spend to keep leads coming in.
That lead flows directly into your CRM, connected to the exact campaign, keyword, or ad that generated it. That means we can see whether a lead actually turned into a booked appointment or a signed project, not just whether it filled out a form, and your account team can follow up on next steps instead of leads sitting untouched.
Typically, initial results start kicking in at 2-3 months. However, paid ads need real data before they can be optimized, so we build in an initial period to gather performance information before making major changes.
Our team then hones in and optimizes based on the results, typically seeing good, consistent, bottom-of-the-funnel leads around the 6 month mark. But like anything... paid strategy takes time to perfect.
Your account manager will walk you through the specific commitment and what milestones to expect at each stage, so you're never left wondering whether it's too early to judge results.
Yes, we can take over existing campaigns.
Our team audits what's currently running, including budget allocation, keyword targeting, landing pages, conversion rates, and past performance, before making changes, so we're building on what's already working rather than throwing out data you've already paid for.
They solve different problems. Paid ads generate leads quickly but stop the moment you stop paying for them. SEO and AIO build visibility that keeps working in the background and tends to compound over time, but it takes longer to build. Most of our clients run both, using paid ads for immediate pipeline while SEO and AIO work builds toward long term, lower cost lead flow.
It comes down to time and expertise. Managing ads well means constantly reviewing keywords, adjusting bids, testing landing pages, and reading performance data, on top of running your business. Across our client portfolio we've generated a blended return on ad spend of over 16 times, which reflects the ongoing, hands on management that most owners don't have the bandwidth to do themselves alongside running projects and crews.
AI Search Optimization (AIO) FAQs
Skeptical that AI search visibility is a real thing worth paying for, or wondering whether a smaller remodeling or custom home building business even stands a chance at getting recommended by ChatGPT? This section is for you if you're deciding whether AI search optimization belongs in your marketing plan at all, not just how it technically works.
It is already changing how homeowners find remodelers and builders, and we can point to real numbers, not just claims. One remodeler we work with now ranks number one across four of five major AI platforms. Another saw AI referrals increase by over 400 percent. A third generated $400,000 in projects traced directly back to search visibility. This isn't a future trend, it's already producing leads for businesses that are set up for it.
Yes, and often better than expected. AI tools don't recommend businesses based on advertising budget, they weigh things like consistent business information, real project details, and authentic client reviews. A well documented smaller business frequently outranks a larger competitor who hasn't organized their online presence for AI to trust and cite.
It depends on your current site's technical foundation. Every engagement starts with an audit of your existing structure, content, and how you're currently represented across the web, so we know exactly where you're invisible before recommending changes. Some businesses need a full rebuild to get there, others just need the right structure and content added to what's already working.
AI engines hand homeowners a short list, not ten blue links, so getting on that list comes down to a few things working together: clear and specific content written to inform rather than sell, consistent business details across every place you appear online, structured data that clearly tells AI what you do and where, and genuine expertise backed by real projects and pricing rather than generic filler content. Reviews are one of the strongest trust signals in that mix, but they're not the only one. Great reviews without the rest of that foundation still leave a business easy to overlook.
Every lead is tagged by source from the moment we start tracking, including whether it came from a platform like ChatGPT or an AI generated overview. That means you see it in your own numbers, not a claim we're making on your behalf, so you know whether AI visibility is turning into real conversations with homeowners.
It needs ongoing attention, not a one time setup. Structured data, consistent business information, and content all get reviewed and adjusted regularly as part of your plan, because AI platforms and your competitive landscape keep evolving. The businesses that stay visible are the ones that keep building on the foundation, not the ones who set it up once and walk away.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) FAQs
Wondering whether SEO is actually worth the wait for a remodeling or custom home building business, or whether it even matters once you're already running ads? This section is for you if you're deciding whether SEO belongs in your marketing plan at all, not just how the technical side works.
It's worth it precisely because it compounds. One remodeler client generated over $1,000,000 in organic traffic value and saw a 46 times return on marketing investment through SEO alone. Another saw an 839% increase in leads through a strategic content system. It takes longer to build than a paid campaign, but once it's ranking, it keeps working without a fresh spend every month.
No, and that's the core difference. Paid ads stop producing leads the day you stop funding them. SEO builds organic traffic and rankings that keep compounding long after any specific project is finished, more like owning digital real estate than renting visibility month to month.
Traffic alone isn't the goal, and it isn't what gets reported on. Organic performance gets tracked straight through your CRM, so what matters is which keywords and pages are actually turning into booked appointments and signed projects, not just how many people visited a page.
They share the same foundation. Technical SEO work like schema markup, clean site structure, and clear content is what allows both search engines and AI platforms to crawl, understand, and cite your site. Rather than treating AI visibility as an extra project, it's built directly into the same SEO foundation from day one.
The right content matters more. Rankings come from content built around what buyers are actually searching, like real cost and timeline questions and location specific service pages, not from publishing as much as possible. A handful of well targeted pieces aimed at real buying intent will outperform a large volume of generic content built around high search volume alone.
Yes, local visibility is a core part of the strategy, not an afterthought. Part of the approach is optimizing your core local listings to build the credibility signals both search engines and homeowners look for, so smaller or less searched markets still have a clear path to becoming the trusted, findable name in that specific area.
Social Media Marketing FAQs
Trying to figure out what a month of social media management actually includes, whether you'll see new leads directly from it, or how much say you get over what's posted? This section is for you if social media is part of your plan and you want realistic expectations before assuming it's a lead machine on its own.
Both, and that's the point. Social media is where a homeowner checks you out before they ever call, so it builds trust long before a lead happens. But it can also directly generate leads: one client turned a single before or after Facebook ad into 53 leads at a click through rate over five times the industry average. Treat it as brand trust that also converts, not one or the other.
It's built in from the start rather than sold as a bolt on. Every marketing plan includes social media as part of the system, with the amount of content scaling based on your plan. If you want more posting volume than your base plan includes, that's available as an add on rather than something you're required to buy just to have any social presence at all.
Alongside. Social media nurtures homeowners who aren't ready to call yet, while paid ads and SEO tend to reach people actively searching right now. Once organic social content is proven to earn engagement, it also becomes a foundation for paid social boosting, so the channels build on each other instead of competing for the same budget.
Not on its own. What matters more is whether the content is actually earning engagement, real project photos, client stories, and testimonials tend to outperform generic posts regardless of volume. Performance gets reviewed and adjusted every month specifically to find what's working and cut what isn't, rather than assuming more posts always means more results.
Yes, and that's often the smarter order of operations. Once a content rhythm is already earning trust and engagement organically, that same proven content becomes the foundation for paid social boosting, rather than spending ad budget testing content that hasn't been validated yet.
No. We start by reviewing your current profiles, your competitors, and your existing project archive to figure out what's actually worth showcasing before anything gets planned or posted, so existing followers, history, and any content worth reusing stay intact rather than getting wiped and rebuilt.
Email Marketing FAQs
Wondering whether old leads are actually worth chasing, or worried that regular emails will just annoy people who already went quiet? This section is for you if you're trying to understand what email marketing realistically does for a remodeling or custom home building business, not just how often the emails go out.
Longer than most owners expect. Some of the strongest leads we've generated took one to two years to close, since remodeling and custom home decisions rarely move on a homeowner's first visit to your site. Email is built specifically to hold that gap without asking your sales team to remember who's due for a check in.
Yes, and the results back it up. One Builder Funnel client sent a single email to a contact from eleven years earlier and turned it into a signed project worth close to $300,000. A lead going quiet rarely means they lost interest for good, it usually means their timeline moved, and email is how you're still the first call when it moves back.
Not if you capture it. Roughly 96% of website visitors aren't ready to make a decision the moment they land on your site, which sounds discouraging until you realize the job isn't to sell them immediately, it's to capture their email and keep the conversation going. That gap is exactly what email marketing is built to fill.
They shouldn't, if the mix is right. We follow roughly an 80/20 split, so the large majority of what lands in someone's inbox is educational and genuinely useful, with a much smaller share as direct promotion. That balance is what keeps people opening emails for months or years instead of unsubscribing after the second one.
No, that's the point. Sequences are tied directly to where a lead sits in your CRM, so as someone moves from researching to ready, the right follow up triggers automatically without your team having to track who's due for an email. It runs quietly in the background of everything else you're already doing.
They're built to sound like a real person, because homeowners respond to people, not company inboxes. Every email goes out from someone on your account team rather than a no reply address, so it reads as an actual point of contact keeping in touch, not a mass marketing blast.
The confidence you're looking for comes from real builders and remodelers who have been in your shoes. Take their word for it.
Choosing a strategic growth partner is a big decision. That's why we believe the most meaningful proof comes from the builders we've helped grow. Hear how remodelers and custom home builders across North America have increased qualified leads, strengthened their sales process, and built businesses they're proud of.
